National Puppetry Festival To Honor Caroll Spinney At Six-Day Event From Monday, Aug. 10, to Sunday, Aug. 16, more than 500 puppeteers from 14 nations on five continents, and from 42 U.S. states, will attend the 2015 National Puppetry Festival, presented by the Puppeteers of America, the non-profit organization founded in 1937. “This is a very large deal,” says Bart P. Roccoberton Jr., who succeeded Ballard as director of the puppet arts program in 1990.”There are more folks attending the event than normal this year and they’re coming to a place that has been home to puppeteers in the U.S. for the past 50 years.” Among performances at various venues across campus open to the public will be new interpretations of “The Wizard of Oz” by the Frisch Marionettes of Cincinnati.
