Oz in the News 2.2.14

When asked about her favorite Wizard of Oz character, McCarthy didn’t hesitate. “The Scarecrow is my favorite because he uses his brain even though he doesn’t have one,” laughed McCarthy. Though it’s not part of the library display, McCarthy’s all-time favorite piece is a twisted rope apple tree her mother made, with ornaments of all the main characters. “Each character was hand-painted,” said McCarthy, “and it was my favorite because my mom made it.”
