Oz in the News 11.5.13

LD8MjAtCostume Illustrations For OZ: THE GREAT & POWERFUL  Costume illustrator, Alan Villanueva, updated his website with designs he worked on for Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful and Bryan Fuller’s defunct Munsters reboot, Mockingbird Lane.  “Through
the wonderful working relationships I’ve established with my diverse client base, which includes Disney, Paramount Pictures, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros, Lionsgate and Ducati to name a few, I’ve had the pleasure to conceptualize and produce work that I am extremely proud of, while also having the opportunity to collaborate with people whom I truly care about.”

Scrapbook Showcase: Autumn at Oz  This week’s Scrapbook Showcase features photos submitted by Christy and Chad Peters. The photos were taken during Autumn at Oz. We enjoyed celebrating the 75th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz” at the Autumn at Oz Festival in Beech Mountain, N.C. It’s an amazing trip down memory lane, which just so happens to be the yellow brick road. They had awesome music, food, and vendors.

Wizard of Oz Wedding Inspiration  “When you hear “Wizard of Oz”, what do you immediately think of? Munchkins, yellow brick roads, rainbows, ruby slippers, and a cute little dog…. right? Well, I wanted to go the complete opposite direction and draw inspiration from the dark side of Oz — flying monkeys, wicked witches, tornadoes, storm cellars, and poisonous flowers. So I teamed up with some of the area’s most brilliant creatives to bring this twisted Oz to life. We decided on a color palette of emerald, black, and white — with very few colorful nods to the brighter side of Oz (mostly through the floral design and the rainbow streamer ceremony backdrop). Seeing my dark and twisty vision come to life in a way that was still applicable to parties and weddings was surreal. We had so much fun playing dress up and throwing rainbow sprinkles, I want to do it all over again.”
