Oz in the News 7.7.12

‘Oz house’ lore turns out to be a Baum tip  When Ginger Elliott and her husband moved to town three decades ago and were looking at homes in the neighborhood, “every Realtor told us the same story, that L. Frank Baum had lived there,” she told me. A two-page history of the home prepared in 1979 and on file at the Claremont Heritage office states at one point, “The house was also lived in at one time by Frank Baum, author of The Wizard of Oz.” The line was crossed out, evidently when someone realized they’d been misled. Offering a fresh chance to explore the myth, not to mention the gated property itself, the house is now on the open market for the first time since the 1960s. The listing agent, Geoff Hamill, is advertising it as the “Wizard of Oz House” and using a yellow brick road as a marketing hook.

  1. Not really a comment about this house, but about The Ozmapolitan itself…the link to Ozproject.com seems to be broken.
