Michigan film industry: Where is it now? Where is it going?  At sound stages in Pontiac’s Raleigh Michigan Studios, actor James Franco has spent much of this summer and fall portraying a Kansas circus musician who finds himself coping with life in the Land of Oz. Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams perform as witches who wonder if Franco is the wizard they’ve been hoping for. “Scrubs” star Zach Braff rounds out the impressive cast of Walt Disney Pictures’ movie, “Oz, the Great and Powerful.” This star-studded film, directed by Michigan native Sam Raimi, is being filmed here thanks in part to Michigan’s once “great and powerful” film incentive. Now, that incentive has been decreased and people around the state wonder about the future of the state’s film industry.

So I suppose I honor those possibilities, but I do believe it is the last one.”
