Lights, Camera, Auction  Movie buffs, get your popcorn—and checkbooks—ready. Costumes worn by stars like Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, as well as other film memorabilia acquired by actress Debbie Reynolds, are going on the auction block next month.  The items, which Reynolds scavenged several decades ago as the big film studios encountered a wave of distress and major changes to the industry, include one of Charlie Chaplin’s black bowler hats, Elizabeth Taylor’s riding habit from “National Velvet,” Charlton Heston’s tunic and robe from “Ben Hur” and the green drapery dress that Vivien Leigh’s Scarlett O’Hara fashioned in “Gone With The Wind.” There’s also the oft-mentioned white halter dress Marilyn Monroe while standing over a subway grate for “The Seven Year Itch,” the blue dress and a pair of ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore as Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” and Julie Andrew’s brown jumper, blouse and guitar that she wore to sing “Do-Re-Mi” in “The Sound of Music.”

Families Journey “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel  This summer, travelers can follow the yellow brick road to the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel for the ultimate family vacation, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” In celebration of the film’s 70th anniversary, families can explore the fabled land, from Munchkinland to Emerald City, with tickets to the Wizard of Oz exhibit at the Boston Children’s Museum. After an adventure in Oz, there’s no place like home at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, where children under 12 eat for free when families feast at adjacent 606 Congress restaurant.
