“The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” at the Society of Children’s Writers The 28th joint session between science-fiction workgroup of the Society of Children’s Writers and the Academy of Fantasy on Wednesday evening (13 October) is given to a survey of L. Frank Baum, creator of the story of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. The story of the Wizard of Oz has never been translated into Persian but Iranians are well familiar with the story through its successful film adaptation made in 1939.

Neil’s artwork has influenced me – I think it probably has – but there’s also the idea that there is a part of me that sees the world attracted to that sort of artwork and that’s why I like it and I would have drawn similar to this even if I’ve never seen it. I mean it’s which came first. But certainly I enjoyed John R. Neil’s artwork for many many years and have tried to emulate it and I still collect it.”
